With all the excitement in the news these days about advances to green technology and green power, I think it's easy to forget that our grandparents knew a thing or two about the subject.
I love the look of old wind-up clocks. They're just so classic, so sturdy. Admittedly some of them have a tick-tock loud enough to keep your neighbours awake, but quiet ones can still be found. And the others can be relegated to the kitchen, or other places where a bit of noise won't be noticed.
They're wonderfully simple to use, work during a power outtage and you never have to figure out where to send spent batteries.
And who knows, it'll probably turn out that remembering to wind them every day is good for your brain's health!
