Etsy Mondays - Starving Art Student

It's gardening season where I live.  And, if you do any gardening at all, chances are, you're going to want to save some seeds.

It can be tricky to do this and keep things tidy or even remotely stylish.

Etsy seller Starving Art Student to the rescue with these recycled seed packets.  They started out as a gift to her mother and are now available to all of us through the wonder that is Etsy!

I really like the ones with the text, but more colourful varieties are available.  And if you'd like to include a card and give them as a gift, well, she also sells postcards.

Etsy Mondays - Catherine Reece

I'm dreaming garden dreams these days.  It appears I'm not the only one.

Etsy seller Catherine Reece features winsome birds and insects on her handmade clay creations.

This would be perfect for that first posy of the year.

Bird Vase

And for a cool drink after a hard morning of digging.

Oh dear!  We're planning to hang some recycled lanterns along the fence.  Do I need to add a hanging vase, too?

I also love that she helps to power her electric kiln with solar panels and drives her wares to market in a diesel truck that runs on recycled vegetable oil!

Etsy Mondays - openbooks

Here's a cool idea.

It seems I'm not the only one who's ever wanted to add blank pages to my favourite books, to continue the dialogue.

The team at openbooks takes vintage books, saves the best bits, adds 80+ blank pages and a coil binding so the book opens flat, or folds back on itself for convenient jotting while you travel.

Etsy Mondays - Felt to Keep You Warm

We're having one heck of a cold snap round here.  Felt, I think, is what we need.

I'm thinking this scarf/necklace would also make a nice decorative garland somewhere in your house.

gayeabandon

And a lovely felted bowl, so your keys and spare change can stay warm, too.

icicle

Such happy-looking slippers to combat those cold winter drafts!

And even though I am in deep holiday denial, this tree made me smile.

Hope you're all staying toasty warm!

Etsy Mondays - Shaving Kit Supplies

Shaving Kit Supplies is the Etsy shop of a self-confessed book dork (book dorks are the best folk on earth...)  She assures us that she only uses books that have fallen apart to make handmade art as well as selling vintage goods and supplies to make your own treasures.

I love this - a collage printed on a dictionary page!

Home-brewed walnut ink if you want to try your hand...

Vintage glove forms that double as chalk boards.  Place markers, maybe?  Message centres?

Such a great shop!

Etsy Mondays - Cushions!

I already have too many.  But there's always room for one more, right?

Like this little guy, saving vintage buttons.

This one's guaranteed to raise a smile.

Just too gorgeous for words....

Etsy Mondays - ShaneLilyRain

Oooohhh!  This could be dangerous!

I was still thinking about alternative wallpaper ideas while I wandered through Etsy this morning.  ShaneLilyRain sells vintage paper ephemera packs (every one a surprise!).

And vintage alphabet flashcards.  You can buy a random grouping of 10 and then see what words you can spell.  I think that's much more fun than choosing a word and just buying the letters you need...

And how about this one?  Birdies!!!

Oh, the possibilities....

Etsy Mondays - Fondue and Fondue Jr

I entered "wallpaper" into the search box on Etsy and found Fondue!  And Fondue Jr!  Using wonderful vintage wallpapers to make everyday items look cooler and better.

Wait.  You thought I put a lot of diligence and planning into this, didn't you?  Well... um...

No. I can't fool you.  It's pure serendipity here!

As Alan was putting the new box of tissues on the back of the toilet the other day, he turned to me and asked, "Is this too Christmassy?"

Maybe I should get a nice tissue box cover and we'll never have to worry.

And some switch plates, too...

Etsy Mondays - Old Barn Rescue Company

Old Barn Rescue Company makes use of old barn wood, doors, and vintage hardware.  Lovely, whimsical.

This welcome sign would look good on my front door.

You can never have too many hooks.

And, seriously, who couldn't use a little more joy in their life?

I want to wish all my Canadian readers a very happy Thanksgiving.

And don't forget to vote tomorrow!

Etsy Mondays - Heirlooms Revisited

Looking at the calendar, I realize that Holiday Season is just around the corner.  Here in Canada, Thanksgiving is October 12, which gets us thinking about that Other Holiday (it's just too early to mention it by name!)

With the holiday season comes holiday entertaining and with that comes a desire to spiff the place up a little.

Etsy seller Heirlooms Revisited has a variety of table runners and pillow shams, made from the good parts of vintage tablecloths that have seen better days.

This would cheer up a table on a grey autumn day.

If you prefer the less traditional, there's sixties fabric.

A tea towel like that is sure to win volunteers to help with the dishes!

And after all the work is done, a pillow on a comfy chair will help you relax!

Etsy Monday's - CrowBiz

Pretty.....

Wooden blocks covered in papers in three different languages.

Hand-made, recycled paper bird's nest with hand-picked stone "eggs".

Chinese map magnets in Chinese text box.  Prefer a different language?  Just ask - CrowBiz takes requests!

Etsy Mondays - Let's Get Organized

I'm trying to organize a move, two very full work schedules and a social life.  Let's see if Etsy can help...

This cork board from Haber Heartwork could come in handy.  I love that the base is a recycled trivet.

This little quilted hold-it-all from Sew Danish has such lovely soft colours.

And a little tiny notebook from Curious Doodles to carry around, for all those important ideas that occur at the most inconvenient times (I can never remember anything when it's time to sit down and make plans...).

Hope you're as inspired as I am!

Etsy Mondays - ReClaim2Fame

I don't have a big collection of jewellery.  Frankly, I'd rather spend my money on travel and dinners out than rings and necklaces.  Besides, have you ever really looked at jewellery boxes?  Not something I'd want in my house, most of them.

Then I discovered the jewellery boxes of ReClaim2Fame.

Gorgeous!  Crazy!  Cool!  And all made with at least 80% recycled materials!

Hmmm... amazing as these are, I still don't see myself splashing out on baubles anytime soon.  Thankfully, they also make...

The Frazzled Frizzy Party Bowl Robot!

Now THAT, I could justify!

As always, just click the pics to be taken to each item's page.

Etsy Mondays - RightBrainThinker

OK.  Let's try this again....

As some of you may have guessed, life has gotten a little more hectic around here.  I've gone back to work at the dairy, for real this time.  I've banked a few posts, but know that if I miss a day or two, it's because I've come home and passed out from exhaustion, and not because I don't love you anymore.

That said, here's the post that should have run yesterday!

I love an Etsy seller with a good sense of humour.  And with product titles like "Heck is That Scarflette Blue", well, RightBrainThinker (Hand Made Items From the Practical to the Slightly Off) is my kind of Etsy seller!

I mean, look at this pin, handmade from fused plastic bags.

More practical are these t-shirt scrubbers.  Made from " clean, recycled t-shirts that I cut and cut and cut and then crochet" they make great cleaning cloths and EXCELLENT VEGETABLE SCRUBBERS.

The upcycled food box gift tags would be a great addition if you decided to give someone this:

I look at this little dude and think, "Geez, I know just how you feel."  It's the heat....

Etsy Mondays - A Little Something For a New Arrival

I have a new grand-nephew.   Time to do a little shopping.

I love that this cat has no extra features.  It's safer, and wee Richard would get to use his imagination....

This quilt is called "Don't Fence Me In".  Perfect, given this boy's gene pool!

Oh!  Birth announcement cards made from handmade, recycled paper...  Though they've probably already told everyone.  Hmmm...

So much more to look at.  I just love being an Aunt....
