Lazy Sunday Links

I found this picture on Carpe + Item yesterday. It was one of those "why didn't I think of that?" moments. It's brilliant! It's a ladder! I have lots of ladders! Next year I will have a ladder Christmas tree!

A new blog, pia jane bijkerk - enhance the everyday, was launched just a week ago, and it's what my blogs want to be when they grow up. I am stunned, awed by this one. Beautiful photography, multiple pages, recipes...

I showed it to my husband, feeling slightly inadequate. He said, "Aw, honey, she's obviously had way more practice at this than you have!"

Attention partners of bloggers! Memorize the following and repeat it whenever necessary: "Your blog is a million times better than anything else out there. You're just too close to it to see that."

Moving on. I stumbled on The Story of Stuff with Annie Leonard this week. The site includes a twenty-minute online movie explaining the Materials Economy and, basically, how we've gotten ourselves into the mess we're now in.

It also includes resources for getting ourselves out of the mess we're in (it's not totally hopeless, people!) and a blog.

I realize that linking to an anti-consumerist website at this time of year may seem a bit of a downer. But, as I say, it is, in fact, a very hopeful site.

Plus, I was raised Catholic. Guilt is part of my Christmas tradition, like eggnog and the scent of pine.

I hope those of you who celebrate it have a very Merry Christmas. I will be taking the week off, like much of the rest of Blogland. But I'm looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
