Bits and Pieces Week - Hyacinths for the Soul

They were my mother's favourite flower. When we gave them to her she would always say, "Hyacinths for the Soul...."

It's from a poem:

If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,

And from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left,

Sell one, and with the dole

Buy hyacinths to feed thy soul.

Moslih Eddin Saadi, Gulistan (Garden of Roses)

Just a little something to help you get through this last, longest day of February.

Thanks, everyone!

Now, if I could just get the scent of those flowers wafting out from your computer, Tara...

Oh, how beautiful. And what a wonderful poem, too! Am inspired to rush out and buy some tomorrow!

If only we could transmit smells over the computer. Maybe someone will invent the olfactory equivalent of video clips one day ('YouSmell'? - hmm, perhaps not!)

Ha!

The concept is good though. Maybe Smellovision?
