A Wooden Screen Door

If I were designing a house from scratch, I probably wouldn't put the back door right in the kitchen.  I'd put it off to the side, with a mud room and lots of space for boots and coats.

But then I would miss out on having this, right next to where I wash the dishes.

Screen Door!

I like this too....when we moved from CA to KY i told my husband that the first thing we were doing to our house was installing WOODEN screen doors on the front & back doors. Love the breeze but honestly I wanted to install memories of my Granny's house in Texas & the sound of the screen door "slapping" closed. BTW you don't get the right sound with a metal door....It's a summertime in the country thing i guess.
Love the book brackets too!

Thanks so much Lisa!

You're right, a screen door isn't just an object - it's an entire lifetime of summer memories in one evocative creak...
